We believe in learning by doing. Our students benefit from unique, hands-on experiential learning elements that allow them to apply their classroom knowledge to real-world cybersecurity challenges. These elements often provide cybersecurity services to state and government agencies across the state of Oregon.
- Teaching Security Operation Center: As a signature element of our cybersecurity programs, TSOC offers a unique opportunity to students to gain working experience in a real SOC and serving clients across the state of Oregon.
- RISK Clinic: The RISK Clinic offers students an opportunity to assess the security posture of critical infrastructure and various organizations by conducting thorough security audits and vulnerability assessments. Students work directly with industry partners to identify weaknesses in systems and propose solutions to mitigate risk, all while gaining essential experience in consulting and client interaction.
- Internship/Co-Op: Students in all programs have the opportunities to take a paid internship or co-op position with one of our industry partners after completing proper number of courses.
- Research/Capstone Projects: Different research groups in the CS department invite qualified students to participate in research or capstone projects to expend their knowledge and gain deeper experiences. Students are able to fold their effort into a thesis to further elevate their profile.
